Nabila Mamuju Reveals Secrets, Learns Cengkok from Selfi Yamma

Advancing to the final audition round of D'Academy 8 is a significant step for Nabila from Mamuju, West Sulawesi. Behind her ability to sing dangdut, there is a list of Indosiar alumni who have been a source of inspiration.

Since she was a child, Nabila admits to growing up watching the performances of D'Academy graduates. She even studied their singing styles, from cengkok, vocal dynamics, to stage presence.

"I am inspired by Kak Selfi, and of course Bunda Lesti, that's the first one I watched. Bunda Lesti, Kak Selfi, Kak Sridevi, Kak April as well," said Nabila when met at the Indosiar Studio, West Jakarta, on Wednesday (8/7/2026).

1. Learning Cengkok from Selfi

Among all her idols, Selfi Yamma is the one who inspires her the most in mastering cengkok dangdut. Meanwhile, Nabila admits that she has learned a lot about vocal dynamics from Lesti Kejora.

"As for Kak Selfi, I really like her cengkok, so I learn cengkok from Kak Selfi. Now, for Bunda Lesti, I really like her dynamics, they're really good, so I learn from Bunda Lesti," she explained.

Not only that, Nabila also admires the vocal abilities of Sridevi and April. According to her, both have strong vocal characters and captivating stage presence.

"For Kak Sridevi, I really like her high notes, her voice is amazing, so I learn from Kak Sridevi. Kak April too, I really like her vocals as well, her high notes, and her stage presence," she said.

2. Optimistic Facing the Final Audition

Going through the quarantine period has boosted Nabila's confidence. She feels she has gained a lot from the coaches who accompanied her during the preparation for the final audition.

"God willing, I am confident I can pass because I was trained by Coach Adi and Wak Asmuni, the training is really amazing," she concluded.
