Reasons Yoni Dores Reported Lesti Kejora for Alleged Copyright Infringement

Ilham added that Lesti has sung several songs created by Yoni Dores without permission and uploaded them to digital platforms like YouTube. This is considered a copyright violation because there was no communication or permission from the song creator. "In fact, she sings someone else's song but doesn't want to acknowledge the person who created it. That's the problem. If she knows them, there should definitely be communication," said Ilham.

The Yoni Dores party has attempted to contact Lesti through two formal notices, but only received one response stating that the legal address was incorrect. After that, there was no further communication from Lesti's side. "We have already issued warnings by sending formal notices twice. There was one response, where she said the legal address was incorrect," explained Ilham.

Ilham also emphasized that the main goal of this report is not to imprison Lesti, but to obtain recognition for the copyright owned by Yoni Dores. He hopes for communication and an apology from Lesti's side.

"Actually, there isn’t any. All legal solutions do not necessarily mean prison. Yes, there are problems. Whatever the problem is, legal issues... It doesn’t have to be prison. The government has what is called restorative justice. So everything is not about prison. It's just that we are sorting out the efficiency time, our working time, we have our calculations," said Ilham.

"So we take the mechanical rights, which cover it, we sit together, that’s all. That’s the direction. So there’s nothing. We don’t know Lesti. We have no personal grudge against Lesti. None. That’s communication. Please consider that person. Value them," added Ilham.

Ilham then revealed the reason his client ultimately took legal action against Lesti Kejora. According to him, Yoni feels that his song has been performed without permission by the singer. Yoni, Ilham said, just wants to know what legal steps can be taken regarding the alleged violation. “Oh it could be (because the YouTube views are high), but the point is, Mr. Yoni came to the office, he asked for help. His complaint is like this: his song was sung by Lesti without permission,” he said.

When asked why this report is only being made now, even though the song has been sung since 2018, Ilham explained that Yoni only contacted him this year.“If Mr. Yoni had come to me in 2020, maybe I would have reported it back in 2020. He just came to me in April 2020,” he explained.
