From stage to stage, that’s how Sridevi’s journey began. Since the age of 8, she has been familiar with the microphone and the spotlight, even though her stage back then was just a simple village stage.

"I have been singing since I was 8 years old. Since I was little, I often participated in competitions, singing wherever I could. I was just that crazy about singing," Sridevi said while laughing.

She even admitted that she once asked her mother to stop at a stranger’s event just to contribute a song. "I said, Mom, can I sing there? Even though I wasn’t invited," she recalled with a small laugh.

Her mother was initially embarrassed and forbade her. "My mom said, don’t, it’s embarrassing. That’s not our event," said Sridevi. But her enthusiasm for singing never waned.

From the village stage to the city stage, Sridevi grew up with the same spirit. "Back then, the village stages were the most exciting. Although sometimes they were noisy, the atmosphere was nostalgic," she said.

Not every journey is smooth. "There were times when I sang far away, but wasn't paid. Sometimes I was only given 200 thousand, at most 300 thousand, even though I sang a lot. Back then, 300 thousand was already a lot; I was just grateful and happy to be able to sing, to entertain people," she said honestly.

Her love for dangdut came from the environment she grew up in. I listened to dangdut since I was little, because my village is very close to Ka Rara Lida, and I was really inspired by Ka Lesti. My parents were also big fans of Rhoma Irama. So since I was little, my love for dangdut has already formed," Sridevi said proudly.
