Still Actively Performing at Age 73, Elvy Sukaesih Admits She is Always Complained About by Her Children

One of her children, Fitria, often receives comments from people around them questioning why Elvy has not retired from the stage. Even though she is already 73 years old.

"Oh yes, especially Tria received complaints from her mother-in-law's friends who are people of the same status. Tria spoke in Javanese, 'Umi, why are you still performing like that?'," said Elvy Sukaesih in the Tendean area, South Jakarta, Friday (11/10/2024).

Even so, Elvy explained that she feels she is still capable and does not want to just stop from the world that has made her name famous.   "How can I be forbidden? If I go from my stomach to my feet, I can't gain weight because I have a pinched nerve," she said.

The family's concerns are increasingly felt when they see Elvy's condition, which is sometimes not fully fit when on stage.

"They are worried, with God's permission, so that I can perform at my best, bringing the family's name and for dangdut," she said.

The Elvy family wants her to always be in good health and to present her best appearance, considering her age is no longer young. Elvi also shared her experience when she faced physical challenges while performing.

"When I was performing, I couldn't walk (I was weak when I was on stage), until the kids asked, 'Mom, are you really sick or not,'" she said.

Although she has often been asked to reduce her activities in the entertainment world, Elvi admitted that it is difficult for her to fully stop. Dangdut music has become a part of her life, and she feels she must continue to give her best as long as she is able.   "Because this is art that we have loved since we were little," she concluded.
