Through Ideafest 2020, Lesti Invites the Current Generation to Not Be Ashamed of Listening to Dangdut Music

Kapanlagi.com - Although held virtually, Ideafest 2020 still presents speakers that are no less cool than last year. Carrying the theme restart, one of the anticipated speakers is the young dangdut singer, Lesti.

In an interview session with Desy Bachir, Lesti talked about her journey in breaking into the dangdut industry at a young age. As it is known, she started her career at the age of 13.

"Actually, because since I was little, it was already known that I had singing talent, according to my father, and it was eventually honed. But if there were no vocal lessons in the village, so if there was an entertainment stage, my father would bring me," Lesti revealed, as quoted from the Ideafest 2020 event (15/10).

"Finally, I learned from there, performing from one stage to another. I joined a big competition called Dangdut Academy," she continued.

1. No Need to Feel Ashamed of Listening to Dangdut

Lesti admits to truly feeling the difference between dangdut music in the past and now. However, she believes that with a more modern packaging and performed by young people, people no longer need to feel ashamed to enjoy dangdut music.

"Dangdut is now universal, everyone can enjoy it. Maybe it was the same in the past, but now it is represented by young people with extraordinary potential, so it feels like dangdut belongs to us, dangdut can be enjoyed. If it's not us who preserve and introduce dangdut, then who else?" said the woman who is rumored to be close to Rizky Billar.

2. Challenges as a Dangdut Singer

In the current era, dangdut singers are no longer synonymous with dance moves and sexy clothing. Like Lesti, who can still captivate the audience with her melodious voice even when performing in a hijab and covered clothing.

"Because according to singers of other genres, dangdut is heavy. They say that the majority of dangdut singers can sing any genre. Dangdut, although synonymous with certain vocal techniques, it depends on our delivery, and the color also follows," she concluded.
