Kapanlagi.com - The 46th Jazz Goes to Campus (JGTC) is back with a bigger event than before. Collaborating with LPS, this oldest and largest music festival in Indonesia was successfully held on Sunday (12/11) at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia. Supported by various sponsors and Media Partners, the event took place festively with various fun activities provided at different booths within the venue.
JGTC is an annual jazz music festival organized by active students of FEB UI. First held in 1976, it has become the oldest jazz festival in Indonesia. Entering its 46th year, this Jazz Goes to Campus was enlivened by Sheila Majid & Tohpati, Charlie Burg, Ahmad Dhani Electric Band, Maliq & D’Essentials, Tulus, Mahalini, Yura Yunita, and many more lineups.
Running from 1:45 PM to 10:00 PM WIB, the performances at this event were divided into 4 stages: Harmony Stage, LPS Makara Stage, LPS Euphoria Stage, and MyPertamina Legacy Stage. The lineup distribution from each stage was certainly interesting to watch and always crowded at each stage.
With these 4 available stages, various local musicians were spread across each stage, which were not far apart from each other. The Harmony Stage was opened by a performance from Reality Club with songs Is it the Answer, Alexandra, Anything You Want and other favorite songs that made the audience sing along, even though it was raining, which actually added a romantic atmosphere to the performance of the band formed in 2016. On that occasion, Chia, the vocalist, expressed his pride as an alumnus of the University of Indonesia who was invited to perform at his beloved alma mater.
No less enjoyable than the Harmony Stage, other musicians also enlivened every stage present. Maliq & D’Essentials succeeded in making the audience jump with joy with their hit song, while Jazzversity x Praya Tjondoro, Rafi Sudirman, and the eccentric performance from Ahmad Dhani Electric Band also performed at the Euphoria Stage. Uniquely, Ahmad Dhani introduced his band members and the musical instruments they played so that the audience could understand about Jazz music, you know, KLovers! The first two songs performed were songs by Frank Sinatra that were rearranged by the talented musician. Followed by a performance of his own song popularized by Ari Lasso, Rahasia Perempuan. Not to be missed, Ahmad Dhani Electric Band also performed several songs from Dewa 19 including Sedang Ingin Bercinta, Cinta Kau dan Dia and also sang the song Madu Tiga which successfully made the audience sway together.
As the night approached, the event The 46th Jazz Goes to Campus became more festive with performances from renowned musicians such as Hiv!, Aruma, Rafi Sudirman, Danilla, Dikta and Yura Yunita which made the atmosphere even livelier, added by the mobilization of the audience from one stage to another. Indonesian Idol graduate, Mahalini also managed to gather many spectators to watch her performance with opening song titled Buru-Buru. Of course, the girlfriend of Rizky Febian also invited the audience to feel melancholic together with the songs Sisa Rasa, Sial, and Bohongi Hati. Mahalini also sang a song that she rarely performed due to its different genre from her dominant songs, namely Pecahkan Hatiku. Her performance ended with the arrival of Rizky Febian who joined her on stage to express gratitude and take photos with the audience.
An equally interesting performance came from Tulus as the closing act of the Jazz Goes to Campus event. At 21:00, the audience had already crowded the stage area, with many spectators flocking in from other areas to witness Tulus's performance at the Euphoria Stage. Tulus performed a number of songs from his album, starting with Monochrome, Wander, Labyrinth, Interaction, Shoes, Falling in Love, Don't Love Me As I Am, Be Careful on the Road, and closing with the song Seventeen. The singer, born in 1987, successfully made the audience scream with joy because of his words, "It feels like the distance is closer compared to last year. Oh maybe our hearts are closer." In the middle of his performance, Tulus even received several gifts from fans and wished a happy birthday to the audience. Tulus's performance successfully closed the festive night at Jazz Goes to Campus 2023.
