Disney Princess: The Concert Becomes a Cure for Disney Lovers' Longing

Kapanlagi.com - The first day of the Disney Princess: The Concert event on November 3, 2023, at Balai Sarbini successfully captivated the audience and was a festive affair. The magical performance was brought by Broadway favorites Steffanie Leigh (Mary Poppins in Mary Poppins), Disney Channel star Storm Lever (as Legendary Queen ‘Anne Boleyn’ in Six, ‘Young Donna’ in The Donna Summer Musical), Krysta Rodriguez (‘Cinderella’ in Into the Woods), and Anneliese Van Der Pol (‘Belle’ in Beauty And The Beast), along with the charming Adam J. Levy (Moulin Rouge) and Music Director and Vocal Arranger Benjamin Rauhala (Fiddler on The Roof). This theatrical act contributed to the magnificent voices and performances of the favorite Broadway artists. 

Disney Film Themed Opening
The concert opened with a countdown and a Disney film-themed opening that successfully transported the audience into the Disney world. At exactly 14:30 WIB, the music director and vocal arranger Benjamin Rauhala entered the stage to greet the audience. 

“Wow Jakarta, we are so excited to be here in Indonesia! Welcome to Disney Princess The Concert,” said Benjamin. 

Then, the four favorite Broadway ladies, who had been highly anticipated, finally opened the performance with a lively rendition of Starting Now from Disney Princess Celebration, accompanied by piano from Benjamin Rauhala to mark the entrance into the Disney world. This upbeat song became a festive opening for the Disney Princess: The Concert. 

“Hello Jakarta, We are so happy to be here,” Storm Lever and Anneliese Van Der Pol greeted.

“Let's get this party started,” said Krysta Rodriguez. 

Benjamin Rauhala Accompanies Broadway Stars on Piano

The music director of Disney, Benjamin Rauhala, also performed in this concert. He accompanied the Broadway stars on the piano on stage. The piano melodies performed by Steffanie Leigh from the song Starting Now to Let It Go were able to create an atmosphere that touched the hearts of the concert audience.

Steffanie Leigh Inspired by Princess Ariel

Before singing the song for the first time, Steffanie Leigh stated that she has been inspired by Princess Ariel since childhood. She also discovered her voice and realized her potential when she wanted to become a Broadway star through the Disney character Ariel.

“She has to inspire me to see the princess potential in the power in my own voice, for the first time.” said Steffanie Leigh.

Broadway Artists Perform Legendary Songs

Broadway artists performed numerous Disney film soundtracks starting from When Will My Life Begin by Rapunzel, Touch The Sky from Brave, For The First Time from The Little Mermaid, A Whole New World, one of the main soundtracks from Aladdin, So This is Love by Cinderella, and many more songs were performed.

Disney-Themed Costumes Worn by the Audience

So eager to hear their favorite Disney songs, the audience enlivened Disney Princess: The Concert by wearing costumes of their favorite Disney characters. Even those wearing costumes were not just children, but teenagers and adults as well. Some wore casual clothes but matched the color of their outfits with their favorite Disney princess, while others donned dresses and makeup that closely resembled their favorite Disney characters.

A Festive Closing

The four Broadway artists closed their performance by singing the hit song from the movie Frozen Let It Go harmoniously, ending with a confetti release that certainly completed the first day of the concert in Jakarta and created an unforgettable moment for the fans.
