Kapanlagi.com - The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) once again demonstrates its commitment to enhancing the professionalism and competence of teachers through the In-Service Teacher Professional Education (PPG) program. This program, aimed at madrasah teachers and religious teachers in public schools, is scheduled to start in March 2025.
The Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar, emphasized that the acceleration of this program is part of the support for government policies and efforts to improve teachers' welfare.
With an ambitious target of reaching 625,481 teachers who have not participated in PPG, Kemenag is determined to complete this program in the next two years. This target includes various categories of teachers, both from madrasahs and from various religions, including Islam, Christianity, Catholicism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Confucianism.
The implementation of PPG will be coordinated by the National PPG Committee of Kemenag to ensure everything runs smoothly. The Chairman of the National Committee, Thobib Al-Asyhar, stated that this program will be carried out in stages, with the first batch starting in March 2025.
"We are targeting 80 to 100 thousand PPG participants for the first batch that will start next March," said Thobib, as reported by the official Kemenag website on Monday (13/1).
The Teacher Professional Education (PPG) is now a major focus in efforts to improve the quality of education in Indonesia, especially for madrasah teachers and religious teachers in public schools.
In his statement, Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar emphasized that this program is a strategic step to meet the needs for teacher professional certification, in line with the Prabowo-Gibran government policy.
"Starting this year, we will accelerate the implementation of the PPG for teachers to improve the competence, professionalism, and welfare of educators," he stated in Wajo, Friday (10/1/2025).
With nationally coordinated implementation, it is hoped that each stage of the PPG can run smoothly and support the principle of religious moderation which is the focus of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) has set a major ambition for the Teacher Professional Education (PPG) 2025 by involving 269,168 teachers in the first batch. This is just part of the total target of 625,481 teachers expected to complete the program in the next two years.
By 2026, the number of PPG participants is planned to soar to 356,313 teachers, with implementation being carried out in stages to maintain the quality of training.
Each batch is expected to accommodate between 80,000 to 100,000 participants, according to the prepared capacity. Interestingly, the implementation of this PPG will utilize digital platforms to expedite the selection and training process, allowing teachers to participate in this program without being hindered by distance and time.
To join the Kemenag PPG program in 2025, prospective participants are required to meet a number of administrative and technical requirements that have been established. First, they must be registered as active teachers in educational units that are registered in the Kemenag system, with an appointment no later than June 30, 2023, and recorded as active in the 2023/2024 Academic Year.
In addition, prospective participants must have a minimum academic qualification of a Bachelor's degree/D-IV relevant to the PPG subject taken, not yet reached the retirement age limit according to the law, and not yet hold a teacher certification. Physical health is also a concern, where participants must attach a health certificate from an official health facility.
All candidates will go through an administrative selection process based on data from the Kemenag system, making this step a gateway to improving the quality of education in Indonesia.
The preparation for the Teacher Professional Education (PPG) by the Ministry of Religious Affairs will soon roll out, starting in March 2025 with a series of exciting strategic steps! In the first batch, between 80,000 to 100,000 participants will be involved in intensive training.
After that, in June 2025, an evaluation will be conducted to open the door for the second batch. And not long after, in December 2025, we will celebrate the closing of the PPG for both batches, complete with training activities, evaluations, and certifications that will prepare teachers to face the challenges of future education.
PPG Kemenag, or Teacher Professional Education initiated by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, is presented as a smart solution to sharpen the competencies and professionalism of educators.
This long-awaited program will officially launch in March 2025, bringing new hope and fresh innovation for everyone.
Teachers who are actively registered with the Ministry of Religious Affairs, have met all administrative requirements, and do not yet hold a teaching certificate now have the opportunity to enhance their competencies.
Participants not only obtain a prestigious teaching certificate but also enrich their competencies, while providing a significant boost to their professional career journey.
