Chris Hemsworth Actor Playing Thor Diagnosed with Genetic Alzheimer's Tendency, Plans Hiatus

Kapanlagi.com - Surprising news from Australian actor, Chris Hemsworth. The actor playing the superhero and God, Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, revealed that he plans to go on hiatus after being diagnosed with a genetic Alzheimer's tendency.

This 39-year-old actor will take a break after the promotional tour for his latest National Geographic program, Limitless With Chris Hemsworth.

In the fifth episode of the series, Chris meets with a doctor for consultation. After undergoing several genetic tests, it was revealed that he has a normal risk of developing Alzheimer's disease 8 to 10 times higher than average.

Initially, the doctor planned to reveal the results of the genetic test to Chris directly in front of the camera and discuss the best course of action for his illness. 

However, the plan changed when the doctor learned the results of the test. The doctor called one of the crew members and requested that the conversation be done behind the scenes. 

"It was quite surprising because he called me and he told me," said Chris. 

2. From His Grandfather

The doctor explained that Chris Hemsworth has a genetic predisposition to Alzheimer's disease, which is likely inherited from his maternal grandfather.

Chris himself also revealed that, during his time with his grandfather, he often heard him speaking in two languages, Dutch and English. In fact, when speaking, the languages would mix. 

"I'm not sure if he really remembers more and he goes in and out of Dutch, which is his native language," said Chris Hemsworth.

"He would speak (in) Dutch and English and then mix them and maybe some other new words too," he added. 

3. Don't Know How to React

Getting news from the doctor that he has a genetic predisposition to Alzheimer's, Chris Hemsworth has many questions. He doesn't know how to respond to the diagnosis he received. 

"I hope I have more intensive follow-up because I really don't know what to think. I'm like, 'Should I be worried? Is this concerning?" he said.

4. Taking a Long Break

Quoting from Vanity Fair, Chris said that filming Limitless has made him discover many things. He said, the experiences he gained during this filming, especially when he received the diagnosis, made him consider taking a break from the acting world. 

"Doing episodes about death and facing your own mortality makes me say, 'Oh God, I'm not ready to go yet,'" said the father of three.

"I want to sit and be in this space with a greater sense of silence and gratitude," he added. 

This husband of Elsa Pataky said he will complete all work-related contracts and plans to take a break.

"It really triggered something in me to want to take a break. Now that I finish this tour this week, I will go home and I will have a good rest time with the kids, with my wife." he explained.
