Kapanlagi.com - The awards season in Hollywood began on Sunday (28/02/2021 local time) with the 78th Golden Globe Awards hosted by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The Golden Globes were held slightly differently this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The hosts and presenters of the awards, who are usually seen as an indication of which international film figures can bring home awards at other events like the Oscars, were in different locations in the United States and around the world.

On this occasion, the highest awards for Best Drama Film and Best Director (Chloe Zhao) were won by NOMADLAND. The film, directed, written, and edited by Chloe Zhao, tells the story of a woman who leaves home to travel in the western part of the United States in a van she bought from selling her belongings. The victory of this film, starring Frances McDormand, was expected by many film enthusiasts because previously NOMADLAND won the Golden Lion award at the Venice Film Festival and the People's Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Andra Day's performance in THE UNITED STATES vs BILLIE HOLIDAY earned her the Best Actress award. This biographical drama is set in the 1940s, where Billie Holiday becomes a target of the government's efforts to racialize the war on drugs, ultimately aiming to prevent her from singing the controversial song Strange Fruit. Meanwhile, the late Chadwick Boseman with his performance as Levee Green in MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM. After being announced as the winner of this category, Chadwick Boseman's wife was the one who delivered his victory speech.
