"To Bruce's amazing supporters, as a family, we want to let you know that our beloved Bruce is dealing with some health issues and has been diagnosed with aphasia, which affects his cognitive abilities," she wrote.

Aphasia usually occurs suddenly after someone experiences a stroke or brain injury. However, this disorder can also develop gradually due to brain tumor growth or degenerative diseases. The severity of aphasia depends on several factors, including the cause and extent of brain damage.

Symptoms experienced by aphasia patients include speaking in short or incomplete sentences, saying sentences that do not make sense, replacing a word with another similar-sounding term, using unfamiliar words when speaking, not understanding other people's conversations, and writing sentences that do not make sense.
