Production of the Harry Potter series from HBO officially began in July 2025 at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, England. The series is confirmed to premiere in 2027 via HBO and HBO Max.

The Harry Potter series is officially in the works nearly 14 years after the film 'HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS: PART 2' was released in theaters.
Dominic McLaughlin was selected from over 30,000 audition participants to play the character Harry in the series version last fall.
The 11-year-old actor will star alongside Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.
The series, which will adapt the seven Harry Potter books over seven different seasons, is being produced by showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod.
The production team is also bolstered by renowned names such as Holly Waddington as costume designer and Adriano Goldman as cinematographer.
According to variety.com, the production of the first season of the Harry Potter series is expected to last until spring 2026, with a break before the second season.
Recently, HBO announced Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as Madam Rolanda Hooch, and Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander.
The previously announced cast includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nich Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.
