Join the Climate Change Demonstration with Jane Fonda, Joaquin Phoenix, and Many Famous Hollywood Celebrities Arrested by Police

Jane Fonda actively participates in this movement and was briefly detained by the police in late December 2019. After being released, Jane did not give up and continued to speak out in Washington, with several top Hollywood celebrities joining her movement.

1. Joaquin Phoenix Joins the Demonstration

One of the top Hollywood celebrities who participated in the climate change protest is actor Joaquin Phoenix. The man who recently received the Golden Globe award for Best Actor in the film JOKER feels the need to personally get involved so that everyone becomes more concerned about climate change.

According to Hollywoodreporter.com, Joaquin feels sad about the forest fires that have been ravaging Australia. He sends prayers to all the victims but also feels the need to take real action to address climate change.

"We can do more than that," he said.

In his speech at the protest site, Joaquin stated that everyone can contribute to saving the climate. This includes asking people to consume food wisely and participate in the movement to become vegetarian in order to save the environment.

"Something that is often not discussed in the environmental movement or in conversations about climate change is that the meat and dairy industry is the third leading cause of climate change. I think sometimes we wonder, 'What can we do in the fight against climate change?'. And there is something you can do today, right now, and tomorrow by making choices about what you consume," he said.

"Sometimes, I struggle with what I can do. There are things that I cannot avoid." I flew the plane here last night. But one thing I can do is change my eating habits. So I just want to urge all of you to join me in that," he continued.

2. Many Celebrities Join

In addition to Joaquin Phoenix, several other Hollywood big names also participate in this movement. Starting from senior actress Susan Sarandon, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Martin Sheen to Amber Valetta.

They conduct demonstration movements every Friday in Washington, DC. And everyone who participates in this movement, Jane calls them 'Coming of their own accord', without coercion from anyone.

3. Arrested by the Police Again

The demonstration carried out by Jane and her friends on Friday, (11/1) last week was once again lively. The Washington police arrested them again, as happened earlier in 2020.

A total of 147 people were arrested for gathering and obstructing public roads. The police detained the demonstrators, but did not put them in jail.

Among the hundreds of people, Jane Fonda and Joaquin Phoenix were among those detained. However, Jane emphasized that she will not stop demonstrating until there is decisive action from the American Government and world investors to change their policies.
