This surprising news was announced directly by Idris Elba through his latest post on Twitter today, Tuesday (17/3). To his more than 2.8 million followers, he admitted that he had taken the test early this morning and the result is truly positive for COVID-19.

"This morning I took a test and the result is positive for COVID-19. I feel fine, so far I haven't experienced any symptoms but I have been isolating myself since I realized the possibility of being infected by the coronavirus (from a colleague). Stay at home and be pragmatic. I will continue to update about my condition. Don't panic," wrote Idris Elba in his tweet.

It doesn't stop there, this 47-year-old actor also uploaded a video containing his announcement. Not alone, he is also seen accompanied by his beloved wife, Sabrina Dhowre Elba.

2. Idris Elba's Message

In the video, Idris Elba admitted that he did not experience the symptoms of the coronavirus as reported. He decided to get tested after realizing that one of his colleagues who had physical contact with him tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday (13/3).

"This is serious. It's time to practice social distancing and frequently wash hands. Out there, there are many people who don't feel any symptoms and unknowingly spread the virus. Now is the time to be truly vigilant, diligently wash hands, and maintain distance," he said.

3. Wife Has Not Taken the Test

Furthermore, Idris Elba has also informed his family about his condition. However, his wife, who has been sitting next to him, has not taken the test yet and appears to be fine, just like him.

This British actor is one of the total 55 new positive cases of COVID-19 in the United Kingdom. He also spreads the message of how important transparency is for solidarity and collective health in such a serious situation.
