Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Officially Granted Approval from Queen Elizabeth: Titles Stripped & No Longer Receiving Funds from the Royal Family

As known, on Wednesday (8/1) local time or early Thursday morning WIB (9/1), Harry and Meghan announced their resignation from senior members of the British royal family through their official Instagram account.

Of course, this decision has shocked many people and raised many questions. Now, Queen Elizabeth II herself and Buckingham Palace have released a statement giving their approval to Harry and Meghan.

1. Queen's Statement

On Saturday (18/1) local time or early Thursday morning WIB (19/1), a statement discussing Harry and Meghan's decision has been released.

Through the official website of the British royal family, the queen revealed that the couple has her blessing. "After months of discussions and recent conversations, I am pleased that together we have found a constructive and supportive way forward for my grandson and his family."

"Harry, Meghan, and Archie will always be much loved members of my family. I recognize the challenges they have experienced as a result of intense scrutiny over the past two years and support their wish for a more independent life," she said.

2. Hope for the Harry Family

"I would like to thank them for all the special work they have done across this country, the Commonwealth, and beyond, and I am particularly proud of how quickly Meghan has become one of the family," she said.

"It is my whole family's hope that today's agreement allows them to start building a happy and peaceful new life," the queen concluded.

3. Will Not Accept Government Funds

In the same post, Buckingham Palace also released a statement about their support for Harry and Meghan's decision. They also revealed that the couple will no longer accept government funds.

"As agreed in this new arrangement, they understand that they are required to step back from royal duties, including official military appointments. They will no longer receive public funds for royal duties," they said.

4. Give Up Titles & Return Funds

Furthermore, Harry and Meghan will no longer hold the titles HRH (His Royal Highness/Her Royal Highness) or the noble titles.

"The Sussexes (Harry and Meghan) will not use their HRH titles as they are no longer members of the royal family," they explained.

In addition, Harry and Meghan will also return the funds for the renovation of their residence in the UK. "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have shared their wish to repay the Sovereign Grant expenditure for the refurbishment of Frogmore Cottage, which will remain their family home in the UK."
