Prince Philip Admitted to Hospital, Feeling Unwell After Land Travel

Kapanlagi.com - Prince Philip is being treated at King Edward VII Hospital in London since Tuesday (16/02/2021). In a statement released on Wednesday, Buckingham Palace said that the 99-year-old Duke of Edinburgh felt unwell after the travel.

"The Duke's admission to the hospital is a precautionary measure on the advice of doctors after feeling unwell. The Duke is expected to remain in the hospital for a few days of observation and rest," Buckingham Palace stated, as quoted by Hello Magazine.

It is stated that Prince Philip was admitted to the hospital not due to an emergency, but purely as a precautionary measure after the car journey undertaken by the Duke. It is also confirmed that Prince Philip's illness is not related to COVID-19.

1. Queen Keeps Working

Amid the news of Prince Philip being admitted to the hospital, Queen Elizabeth II continues to carry out her official duties. On Wednesday (17/02/2021), The Queen spoke on the phone with Admiral Tony Radakin, the head of the British Navy. The royal family's Twitter account also confirmed that the Queen's virtual call took place shortly after Prince Philip's hospitalization was announced.

"Today, the Queen spoke with the Chief of the Navy, @AdmTonyRadakin, about the ongoing work of the @RoyalNavy both at home and abroad. As the Sovereign, the Queen is the Head of the Armed Forces and has a close relationship with all three services," wrote the royal family's Twitter account.

2. Prince Philip's Public Appearances

Prince Philip, who retired from royal duties in August 2017, made his first public appearance in July 2020 when he virtually handed over the title of Colonel-in-Chief of The Rifles to the Duchess of Cornwall. Prince Philip participated in the ceremony at Windsor Castle.

The Duke and Queen were seen attending the wedding of Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in Windsor in July 2020. The Duke also celebrated his 99th birthday in June 2020.
