8 Portraits of Tiwi T2 Who Was Cast in the Film 'THE PHONE THAT NEVER RINGS', Her Acting Debut - Even Having to Learn Arabic

Prastiwi Dwiarti, better known as Tiwi T2, has finally realized her desire to enter the acting world. This member of the duo group T2 is involved in a film titled THE PHONE THAT NEVER RINGS, directed by Dyan Sunu Prastowo.

In this film, Tiwi plays the role of Ibu Surti, an Indonesian migrant worker (TKI) in Saudi Arabia. Tiwi admitted that she immediately accepted the offer as soon as she read the story.

"I got the opportunity to act and I immediately accepted it, especially after reading that the story is good. For sure, it’s because I really enjoy learning. If there’s something new, I definitely want to, because life is only once, so I want to fill it with meaningful things," said Tiwi at the KlikFilm gala dinner in Cipete, South Jakarta, Tuesday (11/2/2025). Here are the details.

Previously, Tiwi had never received an offer to act in a feature film. However, she had long harbored a desire to act in films. "If it’s not a movie, maybe just some like FTV (television films) and so on. But I really want to, 'oh I really want to be in a film,' so thank God I got the opportunity," she expressed.

As a singer, diving into the acting world is certainly a big challenge for Tiwi. She admitted to feeling nervous when she first went through the shooting process. "Wow, the first time was really nerve-wracking, because this is a whole new world. I also don’t really know the people, I just often see them in the cinema, I like to watch," she said.

"Then when we met, 'can I blend in with them?' I was really scared, and thank God when I got it, everything really blended in," she continued.

In this film, Tiwi must truly delve into the character of a loving mother. Her role as Ibu Surti requires her to portray a maternal side that is very different from her everyday personality.

"Since I started with singing, acting is challenging because of this character. Maybe I will become a very motherly mother, which is very different from my original character," she said.

One scene in this film requires Tiwi to use Arabic. This poses a unique challenge for her. "Here, I also learned Arabic because there is one scene that is very heavy. It ultimately requires me to use Arabic, and in that scene, it also drains my energy and emotions, because I might have gotten too deep into the character that even after the cut, I was still crying," she shared.

Nevertheless, Tiwi is grateful for being given the freedom to delve into her character. "It's more about character development, how to create the character Surti in my own version. Thank God I was given the freedom, it's up to you how you want it," she said.

The film TELEPHONE THAT NEVER RANG is scheduled to premiere on KlikFilm on February 14. In addition to the film starring Tiwi, KlikFilm will also present another film titled Berebut Jenazah starring Junior Robert and Adhisty Zara. Both films can be watched simultaneously on that date.
