Kapanlagi.com - An Indonesian adaptation film of the popular Korean drama, A BUSINESS PROPOSAL, officially premiered on Thursday, February 6, 2025. However, on its opening day, the film starring Abidzar Al-Ghifari and Ariel Tatum only managed to sell over 6,000 tickets.
In response to the low audience turnout, Falcon Pictures producer, Frederica stated that they will handle the situation without any specific strategy.
"Just go with it, just go with it. There’s no (specific strategy), we’re just going with it," said Frederica at XXI Epicentrum, South Jakarta, Friday (7/2/2025).
One of the factors believed to influence audience interest is the controversial statement from Abidzar Al-Ghifari, the main actor in this film. Abidzar admitted that he did not watch the original version of the Korean drama A BUSINESS PROPOSAL because he wanted to create his own character. This statement has drawn criticism from fans of the original drama, and there have even been calls to boycott the film.

In response to this situation, both Abidzar and the production house Falcon Pictures have issued apologies to the public. The Indonesian version of A BUSINESS PROPOSAL tells the story of Sari (played by Ariel Tatum), a food analyst at Bowo Foods, who is forced to disguise herself as her friend, Yasmin (Caitlin Halderman), on a blind date.
Unexpectedly, her date is Utama (Abidzar Al-Ghifari), the heir to the company where she works, who is known for being disciplined and cold. Realizing that his grandfather, Eyang Bowo (Slamet Rahardjo), keeps pressuring him to get married, Utama asks Sari to pretend to be his girlfriend.
From here, conflicts and funny events begin to arise, ranging from Sari's efforts to hide her identity as an employee of Bowo Foods to her involvement in an increasingly complicated matchmaking scheme. This film offers a romantic comedy story with a touch of Indonesian culture, which is expected to attract local audience interest.
