Acha Septriasa Emotionally Recites the Shahada in a Mosque, Delving into the Role of a Convert Until Overwhelmed by Emotions

Actress Acha Septriasa once again demonstrates her dedication to acting through her latest film titled TEARS OF A CONVERT. In this film directed by Indra Gunawan, Acha plays the character Angie, a woman who embarks on a spiritual journey to become a convert.

One of the most memorable scenes for Acha is when her character recites the two sentences of the Shahada. According to her, that moment felt so touching and made her immersed in emotions, especially because she has never experienced it as someone born a Muslim.

"What is very relatable actually, because I feel touched that the pronunciation of the words when we want to convert to Islam indeed must say the shahada. As someone who has been a Muslimah since birth, I have never experienced that," said Acha Septriasa at the poster and trailer release event for the film in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, on Monday (27/10/2025).

The crucial scene was filmed in a mosque at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII). To capture Acha's emotional depth, the director intentionally used a 360-degree camera technique, an idea that spontaneously emerged on set.

"Like since childhood, I have been azan-ed, born as a Muslim. So that scene was quite touching. Mas Indra's treatment used a 360-degree camera, and the idea came up directly on location," Acha explained.

To delve into her role, Acha not only had intense discussions with the director but also conducted in-depth research by speaking directly with several converts to Islam. This process helped her truly immerse herself in the feelings and inner conflicts experienced by her character.
