Adapted from an 80s film, Disney+’s latest series 'EARLY MARRIAGE' brings back the iconic story with new plot and characters - Check out the synopsis and cast

Kapanlagi.com - In September, Disney+ Hotstar adds a special local series option for viewers, KLovers. Through the latest teenage romance drama titled EARLY MARRIAGE, this series is an adaptation of the film of the same title that aired in 1987. However, the difference is that the series EARLY MARRIAGE which will air for 10 episodes has an iconic story with a new storyline.

Not only the storyline, new issues, and conflicts that have been adjusted, the series EARLY MARRIAGE will also introduce a lineup of new characters played by famous actors and actresses. Starting from Megan Domani, Randy Martin, Giulio Parengkuan, Ratu Rafa, Christie Arranda, Sarah Felicia, Jessica Shaina, Rianti Cartwright, Ferdy Tahier, to Renaga Tahier.

This series will follow the story of Dini, a high-achieving high school student whose life changes when she has to decide to get married at a young age. Produced together with MD Entertainment with Manoj Punjabi as the producer and Benni Setiawan as the director, EARLY MARRIAGE will greet viewers through its first two episodes which will exclusively air on Disney+ Hotstar starting from September 23, 2023, followed by a new episode every Saturday.

Manoj Punjabi, the producer of the series EARLY MARRIAGE, explained, "Through the series EARLY MARRIAGE,we want to reintroduce the favorite iconic story to the audience by bringing a concept and atmosphere that is more fresh. This story was so popular in its time, and I think it will be very interesting to make an adaptation version with a developed and adjusted storyline for contemporary viewers."

Like a high school teenage love story, the series EARLY MARRIAGE begins with a love triangle between Dini, Vincent, and Rayi.Vincent, known as a troublemaker at school, falls in love with Dini, a high-achieving student.Unfortunately, Vincent's feelings are unrequited as Dini has feelings for her friend, Rayi.However, Dini's romance story turns into a tragedy when one morning, she wakes up next to Rayi with no clear memory of what happened at the party the night before. 

The situation becomes even more uncontrollable when the feared situation becomes a reality.Dini becomes pregnant and is expelled from school.This bitter reality finally forces Dini to leave behind her beautiful teenage years and start a new chapter in her life full of challenges.However, the conflicts do not end after the difficult decision she has to make. The problem with Dini increased when Vincent admitted to being the father of the child in her womb.

The director of this series, Benni Setiawan also added, “This series highlights the core story of the original version of the film, but there are adjustments made to make the series more relevant to modern life. Such as conflicts that arise due to the presence of social media, conversations using the language commonly used today, to modern family and school life.”

1. Megan Domani (Dini)

A high school student and vice chairman of the student council known for being intelligent, having parents who can meet her needs, and living in a caring family.

2. Randy Martin (Vincent)

Known as a troublemaker at school who likes Dini. Vincent's attempts to approach Dini always failed, until one day Dini agreed to accept Vincent's invitation to a party at his house. This decision became the starting point of a series of tragedies that changed Dini's life.

3. Giulio Parengkuan (Rayi)

A man secretly liked by Dini and is the head of the student council at his school. Rayi intends to marry Dini because he is suspected to be the father of the child conceived by Dini after they woke up together with no clear memory of what happened at the party the night before.

4. Jessica Shaina (Gisel)

One of Dini and Vincent's school friends. She is very obsessed with Vincent and always feels jealous of Dini because Vincent only pays attention to Dini.

5. Ratu Rafa (Carla), Christie Arranda (Bella), and Sarah Felicia (Marsha)

They are Dini's close friends at school. When Dini tells Carla about her pregnancy, she doesn't realize that there is someone else listening. The news of Dini's pregnancy spreads immediately and eventually reaches her parents.

6. Rianti Cartwright (Deborah)

She is the mother of Dini. Deborah has an open mind and great belief in her children. Deborah also becomes a mother figure who always accompanies and advises Dini when facing the ups and downs of teenage life.

7. Ferdy Tahier (Pepen)

The father of Dini, known for his firm character and deep love for his daughter. He always protects Dini from her social circle and from a carefree teenage life.

8. Renaga Tahier (Doni)

Dini's older sister who always tries to protect her. When hearing the news of Dini's pregnancy, it was Doni who confronted the troublemaker in her sister's life.
