Pasar Tanah Abang Empty Because Many Artists Sell on TikTok, Ruben Onsu: This is Not the Artists' Job but the Government's

Ruben Onsu, one of the artists who is quite active in selling on the application, gave his response. According to him, this condition is the responsibility of the government and artists should not be solely blamed.

"In my opinion, this is not the artists' job, it is the government's job to take care of it. Tanah Abang is empty and the artists are being blamed. Well, if the technology is getting more advanced, then don't come to Indonesia. We just want SMS, we don't want WhatsApp, that's it. Easy," said Ruben Onsu when met in the Tendean area, South Jakarta some time ago.

"Now, things like this are being exaggerated by the government. You are not thinking about other things, corrupt officials, what are you thinking about? Artists become scapegoats in the application. Artists are the easiest targets to become news headlines," he continued.

1. Only Helping People Around

According to Ruben Onsu, what he is currently doing is also to help many people, especially those around him who work with him.

"Now, sorry, the application is being blamed. You see, it actually opens up many opportunities for everyone, the family can benefit, the business can benefit, this can benefit, so the resellers also directly contact them and have to lower the prices again," he explained.

"I can't do anything, I can't reach everyone, what I save is the people around me first, the people who work. I'm not a hero defending, no, but what I mean is this. You don't have to save others first, save those around you first," he continued.

2. Celebrities Helping SMEs

Furthermore, Sarwendah's husband also said that many celebrities have helped SMEs by selling on TikTok.

"Because I personally feel how celebrity friends are also struggling for SMEs. In fact, many of them say 'Where are the products? Come here'. This is not about rich and poor, but what is asked is, how do you care about the situation that is happening, and you take immediate action," said Ruben Onsu.

"This is a gray conversation, where the right one feels right and the wrong one feels attacked. But for me, don't just talk, don't just want to be a defender or hero for a situation that is fragile to me. So, do it first, before you defend others, what have you done for this country," he concluded.
