Widyawati to Rieta Amilia Also Preserve Kebaya Through Fashion Show Event

Kapanlagi.com - A number of senior artists from the homeland, namely Marini Soerjosoemarno, Widyawati, Rieta Amilia, as well as Dani Dahlan participated in celebrating the 14th anniversary of the Kebayaku Association. They are known to be involved in showcasing several kebaya designs by local designers.

Nunun Daradjatun, as the chairman of the Kebayaku Association, in a written statement received by the media, Thursday (21/9) stated that besides the fashion show, the event also included a talk show and awards presentation to figures who have consistently promoted and preserved kebaya.

"Giving awards to embroidery kebaya MSMEs (micro, small, & medium enterprises), as well as several figures who have consistently worked through kebaya and contributed to preserving kebaya," said Nunun Daradjatun.

1. Kebaya is Identity

Nunun believes that Kebaya is the identity of Indonesian women. Therefore, she says that the journey of kebaya in the homeland is quite long because it is a cultural crossroads of Arab, Chinese, and Portuguese.

In a fashion show featuring kebaya designs by designers Sellia and Musa Widyatmodjo, it was successfully showcased by several professional models. Not to mention that women who are artists and celebrities also took part in promoting the kebaya itself.

2. Preserving the Existence of Kebaya

In addition, with this exhibition, Nunun hopes that Indonesian kebaya will maintain its existence and be favored by future generations.

“We hope that kebaya in Indonesia will continue to be sustainable and develop. And loved by all generations, including the younger generation," she said.
