Kapanlagi.com - After achieving great success with their first film, the quartet of comedians Bene Dion, Boris Bokir, Indra Jegel, and Oki Rengga reunites in the film AGAK LAEN 2: MENYALA PANTIKU. However, producer Ernest Prakasa emphasizes that this film is not a direct sequel, but rather a new chapter inspired by the legend of Indonesian comedy.
In this second film, the four of them are no longer ghost house keepers, but instead play detectives disguising as nurses in an old age home. This drastic change, according to Ernest, was a deliberate plan from the very beginning.
"Actually, this concept isn't just a big head, but from the very start, we were already thinking, if the first film is successful, then what will we do next," said Ernest Prakasa when met in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (08/10/2025). Ernest explained that the team from Imajinari Pictures wants to build a franchise where these four central characters can adventure in different settings and stories in each film, similar to the legendary comedy group Warkop DKI.
"We want to continue with a concept that we might be inspired by what our legend Warkop DKI did, which is from film to film they can be anything. So basically, what are Boris, Oki, Jegel, and Bene going to do this time? Well, the names are the same, but the world, the story, and the characters we can research totally," he explained.

In line with Ernest, producer Dipa Andika added that while the first film was spiced with horror, the second film will carry an investigative genre as its distinguishing feature.
"Actually, Agak Laen 1, even though we spiced it with horror, in the end we are selling this film as a comedy-drama. So this second film we are making is also a comedy-drama but with an investigative flavor," Dipa added.
Bene Dion, as one of the story writers, welcomes this concept. According to him, this format provides broader creative freedom.
"When we made the first one, it felt very sincere, you know, we just wanted to create. But we had already planned that we wanted each film's story to be independent, so there wouldn't be any responsibility or burden," said Bene.
With this approach, AGAK LAEN 2: MENYALA PANTIKU, which will be released on November 27, 2025, is ready to provide a completely new experience for viewers.
