Celine Evangelista's Total Commitment in the Film 'DANYANG WINGIT', Learning to Be a Sinden

Actress Celine Evangelista once again demonstrates her total commitment to acting through the latest horror film titled DANYANG WINGIT JUMAT KLIWON. In this film, which is rich in Javanese culture, Celine plays the character of a sinden, a role that she admits is her biggest challenge and the main reason she was interested in joining.

Celine revealed that being a sinden is not an easy task. According to her, this profession requires a deep understanding that cannot be learned in a short time, unlike general singing.

"Learning to be a sinden is actually a really exciting new experience for me, and this is one of the challenges that made me want to be a part of this film," said Celine when met at XXI Epicentrum, South Jakarta, Saturday (8/11/2025).

"So being a sinden seems to be more difficult than just singing normally, because of the melodies, the nuances, and we have to understand the meaning of the lyrics we convey so that the melodies reach the audience correctly," continued Celine Evangelista.

To delve into her role, Celine admitted she had to be trained intensively by a professional sinden. She realized that the short learning time might not have allowed her to reach her full potential, but she hopes her performance can be well received by the audience.

"Yes, we are really trained and must be guided, it really needs a lot of attention. Maybe in this short process I haven't maximized my learning yet, but God willing, I hope to be well received," she said.

Interestingly, this role comes at a time when Celine is also becoming closer to Javanese culture in real life, after she received the title of Kanjeng Mas Ayu from the Solo Palace. She also mentioned that she had just returned from Solo to attend a mourning event.

"Right now we are all in mourning and I just came back from Solo yesterday, I just arrived from Solo. Last night was the seventh day of mourning, and qadarullah, we don't know when Allah's destiny will come," she explained.

When asked about her mystical experiences while shooting in a haunted location, Celine emphasized that she does not want to exaggerate the story. She chooses to be honest without deceiving the audience with fabricated horror tales.

"No way, no, no, it's not made up, just as it is. If the incident really happens while we're shooting in a scary place, then it's scary. There's no way, for example, we don't want to fool anyone by showing shapes that jump around, or someone with long hair dressed in white, no, it's not like that," he concluded.
