Dewi Irawan Unable to Hold Back Tears, Even Though She Doesn't Have Many Scenes in the Film 'MERINDU CAHAYA DE AMSTEL'

Yup, she is one of the senior actresses involved in the film Merindu MERINDU CAHAYA DE AMSTEL. This film, directed by Hadrah Daeng Ratu, is starred by a line-up of top young actors and actresses in the country such as Bryan Domani, Rachel Amanda, and Amanda Rawles.

As known, Ria Irawan herself did not have a lot of scenes in the film like the other cast members. However, the sadness she showed in several scenes turned out to be real sadness.

It's understandable, as the film, which was delayed for about two years, was made when Dewi was still mourning. She had just lost her mother, Ade Irawan, and her sister, Ria Irawan.

"Yes, actually, this is the first time I wanted to have a press conference like this. My husband also just passed away, right, six months ago," said Dewi Irawan when met at CGV Gramd Indonesia, Thamrin, Central Jakarta, on Monday afternoon, January 17th.

1. Story in the Movie Like a True Story

Dewi Irawan also said that the sadness she displayed during the tahlilan scene in the movie MERINDU CAHAYA DE AMSTEL is the real sadness she felt because the story in this movie is almost the same as what she has experienced. Not only that, Dewi admitted that she truly exploded with sadness when acting in the scene.

"I became Maudy's sister, I didn't know that during that scene I announced that my sister had passed away. Until now, I have been pretending to be strong, strengthening myself. I didn't know that at that moment, it just exploded," said Dewi Irawan.

"Then, what happened next, the scene with the tahlilan. So, it really was just four short scenes, but it really was what I had been holding back, exploding," Dewi Irawan concluded.

2. Sadness of Losing Loved Ones

Dewi Irawan played the role of Maudy Koesnaedi's sister, who played the role of Rachel Amanda's mother who died from a heart disease. Dewi said that all this time she has always tried to be strong even though she has been left by the people she loves, but because of the movie MERINDU CAHAYA DE AMSTEL, Dewi Irawan's tears burst.

"After this movie, it was also when we started before the first lockdown, PSBB. Yes, Ria is no longer here, my mother is no longer here, then Butet offered me the role, I said, 'just my part', and I didn't know the story would be like this," Dewi Irawan revealed.
