Dian Sastrowardoyo Makes Directorial Debut in Short Film Omnibus Set During Pandemic 'QUARANTINE TALES'

Kapanlagi.com - The implementation of Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) has inspired the production house Base Entertainment to create a presentation titled QUARANTINE TALES. This film, which will be available on the online streaming service Bioskop Online, is an omnibus set during the pandemic, featuring five short films of various genres by five different directors.

The directors involved are Ifa Isfansyah with the film COOK BOOK, Jason Iskandar presenting PRANKSTER, Sidharta Tata through THE PROTOCOL, Aco Tenri with the title HAPPY GIRLS DON'T CRY, and finally, there is NOUGAT, which marks actress Dian Sastrowardoyo's directorial debut.

1. Different Tasks as a Director

Being a director is something new for Dian Sastrowardoyo. In the past, she only worked on delivering the best acting performances, but now she is required to manage actors, coordinate the shooting process, and handle other details.

"(Directing debut) is not difficult, it's just a different task compared to being an actor. When an actor is called to play a role, they just come. But with directing, we have to prepare everything first," said Dian during a virtual conference via Zoom on Wednesday (11/11/2020).

2. Finding Ideas and Writing the Script

In addition to making her directing debut, Dian Sastrowardoyo also wrote the script for her short film project. The film titled NOUGAT stars Adinia Wirasti and Marissa Anita.

"Being a director involves many new tasks because I also write (the script) draft by draft. It's a process that starts from the initial idea, to the structure of the script, making the storyboard, creating a short list, brainstorming with all the department heads, and finally shooting," explained Dian.
