From Superhero 'TIRA' to 'KELUARGA CEMARA THE SERIES', These 7 New Disney+ Hotstar Series Will Entertain You

Disney+ Hotstar has just announced more than 20 new original content in the Asia Pacific Content Showcase event, Thursday (14/10). Seven of them are collaborations between Disney+ and Indonesian filmmakers. This is Disney's support to Asia Pacific content creators in realizing their mission to present 50 original content by 2023.

Jessica Kam-Engle, Head of Content & Development Disney APAC, The Walt Disney Company said they focus on collaborating with the best storytellers in Asia Pacific and utilizing Disney's brand, scale, and dedication to excel creatively.

"We hope to collaborate with creative talents, both award-winning and new talents in the Asia Pacific region, to deliver authentic stories that reflect the social dynamics and cultural uniqueness of their respective regions to audiences worldwide," she said.

And for the Indonesian region itself, there will be interesting series as follows. Let's take a look one by one.

The highlight of this APAC Showcase Disney+ is the superhero series Jagat Sinema Bumilangit, TIRA.Not many details have been shared, but Joko Anwar ensures that this series will introduce the character Tira, who has been around for a long time, to the current audience.TIRA tells the story of Suci, a hardworking woman who gains superpowers."Behind the acquired powers, there is certainly a great responsibility," said Joko Anwar.

TIRA will be played by Chelsea Islan. This beautiful actress previously captivated audiences in two horror films BEFORE THE DEVIL TAKES YOU. How will her action be as a superhero? Certainly worth the wait.

Lutesha, Zara, and Shalom Razade are the main attractions of VIRGIN THE SERIES. Based on the 2004 feature film, VIRGIN explores the issues of young people's social life in a big city full of challenges.

The difference is, this time the series will be packaged in a teenage drama thriller. VIRGIN THE SERIES tells the story of a group of students who are making a documentary/investigation film to solve the mystery behind the death of a popular girl at school. This series is planned to be released in early 2022.

TELUH DARAH is an original horror that tells the story of the life of a modern young girl whose family is suddenly terrorized by things related to black magic. This incident makes her question her view of life and black magic.TELUH DARAH stars Mikha Tambayong and Deva Mahendra."As Wulan, a modern girl who is not familiar with mystical things. Then suddenly her life changes when she and her family are disturbed by those mystical things. She has to go on a journey to find out where it comes from, how to stop it, it's an epic journey," said Mikha Tambayong.

Adapted from the film Ernest Prakasa with the same title, SUSAH SINYAL THE MOVIE will be the highly anticipated 'sequel'. The spotlight of this series is now directed towards Aunt Maya (Asri Welas), who moves from Sumba to Jakarta to manage a new hotel.

Aunt Maya is not alone, her hilarious resort workers (Abdur Arsyad and Arie Kriting) will also make this series invite laughter.

WEDDING AGREEMENT comes in the form of a series after being adapted into a feature film in 2019. This series, starring Refal Hady and Indah Permatasari, tells the story of Bian and Tari's marriage after being arranged. Family dynamics become one of the main highlights. This series is planned to air in early 2022.

CEMARA FAMILY is back. And this time there is more exploration done by Visinema in their universe. In addition to showing the struggles of Euis and Ara, there will be a character named Agil in this series.

The DANUR universe doesn't want to lose in enlivening the horror enthusiasts' viewing space. Taking place long before DANUR, JURNALISA will highlight the exciting story of Risa, her younger sister, and her cousin when they visit their grandfather's house in the 1990s. Exciting for Risa, surely horror for the audience :)
