Go International, 'IMAM TANPA MAKMUM' Film Directed by Syakir Daulay Becomes Indonesia's Representative in Beirut

Kapanlagi.com - Good news comes from actor and young director Syakir Daulay. His debut film, IMAM TANPA MAKMUM, has become Indonesia's representative in two international events in Beirut, Lebanon.

Syakir held a press conference to announce this good news on Wednesday (10/4/2023). The younger brother of Zikri Daulay mentioned that his latest work has been selected to be screened at two events in Beirut.

The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Beirut chose this film to be the Indonesian film to be shown at the Study Abroad Fair at the American University of Beirut on October 5, followed by a screening at the 10th MIKTA celebration at Lebanese University on November 1.

It is known that Syakir received criticism from netizens for a promotional video of this film that was accused of insulting the proclamation text. Ultimately, IMAM TANPA MAKMUM responded to the controversy through its screening abroad.

“Syakir's dream of portraying Indonesia through filmmaking abroad is starting to come true,” said Syakir in Epicentrum Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (10/4/2023).

With this good news, Syakir admitted that he did not expect his work to receive more attention at the international level. "This is not proving, yes, because I really didn't expect it," said Syakir.

"So, for example, the negative comments yesterday, turns out I was sick, I was patient, turns out I was waiting for the response from Allah. Oh, thank God, it's not just a little, it's going international," continued the 21-year-old man.

2. Thorough Preparation for International Screening

Being a key figure in his debut film, Syakir revealed that he had prepared things related to the screening of the film IMAM TANPA MAKMUM at both events.

"As for my preparations, I made posters to be put up on student bulletin boards there and I made special announcements with special posters. So, I used English for IMAM TANPA MAKMUM, IMAM WITHOUT MAKMUM," said Syakir.

"Then I had to find someone who could subtitle it, and finally I found one and thank God it was quick," he continued.

3. Unable to Attend

On the other hand, Syakir mentioned that he is unable to attend the event scheduled for today, Thursday (5/10/2023), in Lebanon. Nevertheless, he has already coordinated with the parties involved at the screening location.

"I also ask, can the students there be creative, whether they cover it or whatever, later we can also collaborate with the students there," concluded Syakir.
