'JUNE AND KOPI' Coming Soon on Netflix, Tells the Story of Human and Dog Friendship

Kapanlagi.com - Indonesian directors can't stop creating. Now it's Noviandra Santosa's turn to showcase his work through the film JUNE & KOPI. This second film by the director is planned to be released on Netflix on January 28, 2021.

Starring Acha Septriasa, Ryan Delon, and child actress Makayla Rose Hill, this film tells the story of the friendship between humans and two dogs named June and Kopi, who cannot be separated. They love and care for each other, their relationship is like a happy family.

1. Inspired by Personal Experience

The concept of this film is taken from Noviandra Santosa's personal experience when he was still in college. At that time, he often adopted stray dogs that were abandoned by their owners and had no place to live.

He realized that there are many stray animals in Indonesia. Even June and Kopi are inspired by the dogs he adopted during his college days. "June was inspired by a dog that I adopted. She only has 3 legs and is very afraid of men." Kopi was also inspired by Cody, the first dog I adopted," he revealed.

2. The First Film About Humans and Dogs in Indonesia

For him, the film JUNE & KOPI is not just a family film about humans and dogs. Noviandra also said that he wanted to make a film that is enjoyable for everyone to watch, and he wanted this film to be different from other films.

Although it is touted as the first family film in Indonesia that tells the story of the relationship between humans and dogs, he said that it does not change the fact that this film was still written seriously. "Basically, we treat this project like any other project and try to write a good story," he said.
