Portraying Terrorists in the Film '13 BOM DI JAKARTA', Rio Dewanto Mentions Seeking Character References Through the Band Rage Against The Machine

Kapanlagi.com - The film 13 BOM DI JAKARTA will soon be released simultaneously in Indonesian cinemas on December 28, 2023. Undoubtedly, the film is highly anticipated by movie lovers due to the various actions presented without the use of effects.

When met in the Kebayoran Baru area, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (11/21), Rio Dewanto and other cast members shared how this film provides new challenges and experiences for them. Especially, the action scenes in the film 13 Bom Di Jakarta use special weapons called practical weapons.

1. Weapons Used by Rio Dewanto

For Rio Dewanto himself, there are several special weapons that he uses, including shotguns and bazookas, which complement his cool acting as a terrorist. Rio explains that the weapons used are very light like toys, but they have a loud sound just like the real ones.

"There is one really big weapon that was used in Jogja and it was the first time it was used in an Indonesian film, I lifted the shotgun and it felt like a toy," said Rio Dewanto.

"But the sound is really loud, I have to wear earplugs when shooting, otherwise it would make me deaf, but it feels like a light toy, but the sound is amazing," he continued.

2. Playing the Role of a Terrorist

Ria Dewanto, who plays the role of a terrorist, also explains his reason for taking Subcomandate Marcos as a reference. It is all because of the band Rage Against The Machine, which once interviewed Subcomandate Marcos, who is the spokesperson for the Zapatista National Liberation Army.

"I have been listening to Rage Against the Machine since I was a kid because their vocalist, Zack de La Rocha, once interviewed Subcomandate Marcos, you can see it on their website," he said.

Moreover, the director, Angga Dwimas Sasongko, also provided a similar reference.

"Angga gave his reference before this preparation, but he only gave the reference because until now we still don't know who is wearing the mask," he said.
