MVP Pictures production house is preparing to release the film DEAR JO: ALMOST IS NEVER ENOUGH in August 2023. The film is an adaptation of the best-selling novel by Sefryana Khairil with a slightly different story.

There are Jourdy Pranata, Anggika Bolsterli, and Salshabilla Adriani as the main cast, here Monty Tiwa says that his film will focus on the love story between them (husband and wife love, love for friends, love between father and child).

Similar to the storyline in the novel, the love portrayed in the film DEAR JO: ALMOST IS NEVER ENOUGH will bring a touching story about surrogate motherhood by combining emotions, inspiration, and awareness of the miracles of love and friendship.

Choosing Azerbaijan as the shooting location is due to the country allowing surrogate mother practice.  

The film DEAR JO: ALMOST IS NEVER ENOUGH tells the story of a married couple, Maura (Salshabilla Adriani) and Joshua or Jo (Jourdy Pranata) who have difficulty conceiving. Until one day, Maura asks her friend, Ella (Anggika Bolsterli) to be the surrogate mother.

In this film, Ella, who is a widow or single parent and needs money for her child's school fees in Azerbaijan, feels dilemma. On one hand, she has concerns about lending her womb to Jo and Maura, knowing that surrogate mother practice is also prohibited in Indonesia.

Then later, after they agreed that Ella would be the surrogate mother or replacement mother and then Ella was pregnant, Maura died in a tragic accident. The next story becomes full of tears that drain emotions.

Nevertheless, at the Gala premiere of the movie DEAR JO: ALMOST IS NEVER ENOUGH at Epicentrum, South Jakarta, which took place on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, Monty Tiwa, the director, emphasized that the audience should focus more on how the characters in the story survive in chaotic situations, rather than just focusing on the forbidden surrogate mother.

In addition to the three main cast mentioned above, DEAR JO: ALMOST IS NEVER ENOUGH is also starred by Roy Sungkono, Widyawati, Mathias Muchus, and newcomer Azkya Mahira.
