Proud! 2 Indonesian Films 'KID FIGHTERS' and 'THE WEDDING' Officially Released on Netflix

Kapanlagi.com - Indonesian filmmaker's films are now starting to be recognized internationally. For example, 2 titles produced by Mahakarya Pictures, namely SURAU DAN SILEK and LIAM DAN LAILA which have previously been shown in theaters will soon be available on the Netflix platform, specifically on August 12, 2021.

In addition to being shown in Indonesia, the above 2 film titles are also exclusively shown in several other countries, such as France, the United States, China, Bulgaria, Italy, and Canada. The duo of films directed by Arief Malinmudo is a special attraction for foreign film lovers because they present various Indonesian cultures.

Now for the Netflix screening, Mahakarya Pictures will use English titles for the 2 film titles. SURAU DAN SILEK will be renamed KID FIGHTERS, while LIAM DAN LAILA will be titled THE WEDDING. The reason for using English titles is to adapt to the international market share owned by Netflix.

For your information, KID FIGHTERS is a film that highlights one of the Minangkabau cultures, specifically the culture that gave birth to great figures of Indonesia such as Muhammad Hatta, Sutan Syahrir, and Hamka. Meanwhile, THE WEDDING is a cross-cultural and cross-country film starring FFI-winning actress Nirina Zubir and French Idol 2003 champion Jonatan Cerrada.

THE WEDDING is based on a true story and has previously been screened at Yale University on May 25, 2021. Surprisingly, THE WEDDING caught the attention of Yale students and became a subject of study in their classes.
