Release of Animated Film 'SI JUKI THE MOVIE: MONKEY ISLAND TREASURE' Delayed for Years, Faza Meonk Reveals the Reason

Kapanlagi.com - The popularity of the comic character Si Juki has led Falcon Pictures to collaborate with its creator, Faza Meonk, to create a feature film version. In December 2017, SI JUKI THE MOVIE: PANITIA HARI AKHIR was released, which managed to attract a total of 642,312 viewers during its circulation in cinemas.

This success prompted Falcon Pictures and Faza Meonk to prepare its sequel titled SI JUKI THE MOVIE: MONKEY ISLAND TREASURE. The scriptwriting began in 2018 and the voice recording process was scheduled for 2019, involving Indro Warkop, Megan Domani, Coki Pardede, and many others.

1. Delayed for Years

However, it took a total of seven years from the first film for SI JUKI THE MOVIE: HARTA PULAU MONYET to be released in theaters. As the director, Faza Meonk said there were many reasons that caused this sequel to be delayed for so long. One of them is because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Actually, making animation is not that easy, it requires a lot of effort and involves many people. Because of Covid, we were delayed until we found the right time for the release. After five years of production, it finally can be released," said Faza when met at CGV Grand Indonesia, Thamrin area, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (22/6/2024).

2. Fate in the First Four Days

The animation film industry in Indonesia is not as big as others. Therefore, Faza Meonk asks for support to watch it so that it can pave the way for other animations made by Indonesian creators to be shown in theaters.

"We made this film with love and passion for the animation industry in Indonesia, hoping it can become a locomotive. The most crucial part is the first four days of screening. If there are many viewers, more screens will be added, and with more screens, the animation industry in Indonesia will develop and more Indonesian animations will be made. This will create diversity in genres in Indonesia," emphasized Faza Meonk.
