Released During Eid Holidays, Comedy Drama Film 'GARA-GARA WARISAN' Has a Formula to Compete with 'DOCTOR STRANGE 2'

But good news for film lovers, because in 2022 there are three titles ready to be released and one of them is titled GARA-GARA WARISAN. This is a film that marks the directorial debut of comedian Muhadkly Acho.

The comedy drama GARA-GARA WARISAN, produced by Ernest Prakasa and Chand Parwez, was actually prepared to be shown during Eid 2021. But it can only be released this year after the Covid-19 numbers gradually decreased. Perfect, for KLovers who receive holiday allowance, immediately go to the cinema and don't forget to bring your loved ones, but don't bring someone else's girlfriend.

"We planned this film to be shown during Eid 2021. We have prepared for it, finished shooting in April 2021 to catch up with Eid. But it turns out it can only be released this year," said Chand Parwez in a press conference at Metropole XXI, Pegangsaan area, Central Jakarta, Thursday (24/3/2022).

1. Fight against 'DOCTOR STRANGE 2'

GARA-GARA WARISAN will be released on April 30, 2022, along with KUNTILANAK 3 and KKN DI DESA PENARI. A few days later, the highly anticipated movie DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS will be released. So, how do producers Chand Parwez and Ernest Prakasa respond to this?

"There are indeed many movie choices, I'm not saying that other movies are not interesting. But I have experience releasing movies during Eid al-Fitr since 2006, during Eid al-Fitr we need movies with the right balance, we have drama and comedy, that's what we strengthen. I understand that we need exciting movies in this era," said Parwez.

"(In the movie) Doctor Strange doesn't have Oka Antara, so I'm not worried," joked Ernest on the same occasion.

2. Ernest Prakasa's Initial Idea

The movie GARA-GARA WARISAN was directed and written by Muhadkly Acho. However, the initial idea for the film came from Ernest Prakasa, who then handed it over to Acho for execution.

"I discussed everything with Mr. Parwez. Then the premise emerged: a family with three children discussing inheritance, and all three have equally important motivations. We hope that the audience will be confused about who to support because all three are worthy and in need. That was the extent of the discussion. After talking to Acho, it turned out that he could relate this to something personal for him. Finally, Acho wrote and directed the screenplay," said Ernest.

3. Siblings Fighting for Inheritance

GARA-GARA WARISAN tells the story of siblings Adam, Laras, and Dicky who come together to fight over their father's guest house inheritance. The struggle is colored by emotions due to many underlying problems.

The film stars Oka Antara, Indah Permatasari, and Ge Pamungkas as the siblings. It is also enlivened by Yayu Unru, Sheila Dara, Arie Kriting, Ira Wibowo, Lukman Sardi, Hesti Purwadinata, and also Ernest Prakasa.
