Returning to the Horror Genre After 15 Years, Here Are 7 Photos of Atiqah Hasiholan Starring in the Film 'CURSED' - Portraying a Journalist Who Receives a Mysterious Package

Atiqah Hasiholan finally returns to star in a horror film after 15 years. Through the film CURSED, she plays the character Radha, a photojournalist who faces a terrifying situation in a mysterious apartment complex. Atiqah admits that her role this time is very challenging, especially since Radha has a complex internal conflict.

“I play Radha, she is a journalist who moves to an apartment complex and discovers many oddities there. The challenge is that Radha has a mental disorder, so I really have to understand her feelings and environment,” said Atiqah when met after a special screening at CGV Grand Indonesia, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (20/11/2024). Here are the details.

CURSED marks Atiqah's return to the horror world after last starring in this genre in 2009. Although it has been quite a while, Atiqah feels challenged to bring to life the emotional character Radha, who is caught in the midst of invisible threats.

Meanwhile, the film CURSED also marks the horror debut for Amir Ahnaf, a Malaysian actor, who plays the character Joko. As the main actor, Amir faces his own challenges, one of which is mastering the Indonesian language in a short time. “I only had two weeks to learn Indonesian before shooting. It was tough, but I tried my best,” Amir explained.

Amir also expressed his pride in being entrusted to represent Malaysia in this Indonesian production film. “There is a burden, of course. But I want to show the best for the film industry in this region,” he added.

Director Andi Bachtiar Yusuf, who is commonly called Ucup, explained that the initial title of this film was The Parcel before it was finally changed to CURSED. “We were afraid it would be mistaken for a film about Eid, so it was changed. 'CURSED' is more fitting because this story is about a place that is indeed cursed,” said Ucup.

This film tells the story of Radha who moves to an apartment complex with her child due to a financial crisis. Their lives change when they receive a mysterious package that triggers a series of terrifying events in the apartment. Additionally, this film also touches on social issues about life in apartment complexes in Jakarta, which serves as a commentary on the challenges of urban society.

“CURSED is not just about horror, but also depicts the dynamics of living in densely populated areas and the people who inhabit them. There are many stories about family, slander, and revenge that we highlight here,” explained Ucup.
