Single Mother Role in 'TEARS AT THE END OF THE PRAYER MAT 2', Citra Kirana Reveals the Most Emotionally Draining Scene

Actress Citra Kirana once again demonstrates her dedication in embodying the role of Yumna in the film TEARS AT THE END OF THE PRAYER MAT 2. In this highly anticipated sequel, her character undergoes significant development after being left by her husband, Arif (Fedi Nuril). Yumna is now portrayed as a hardworking single mother.

Citra Kirana shares her thoughts on her character's transformation. She explains that Yumna now has to struggle alone to provide for her son, Baskara, and feels too proud to ask for help from Aqilla (Titi Kamal) for fear of losing Baskara.

"If I tell a little, the character that can be taken from Yumna's role is that she is a really hard worker in this second one. Because if compared to the first, in the first one Yumna was just a housewife, but in this second one she really becomes a hard worker because she is left by Mas Arif," said Citra Kirana at XXI Plaza Senayan, Friday (26/9/2025).

Furthermore, Citra admitted that portraying Yumna's sincerity at the end of the story was a heavy challenge. One of the most memorable scenes for her was when she had to cry in an alley, which she felt was very emotionally draining.

"So, Yumna's sincerity at the end, for me as an actor, is also heavy. Not everyone can be as sincere as Yumna, and, um, for the memorable scenes for me, the scene at the end where I cry in the alley is also very sad," she said.

A strong chemistry with other actors, including Titi Kamal, Faqih Alaydrus (who plays Baskara), Daffa Wardhana, Jenny Rachman, and Leony V.H., greatly helps her in acting. Citra reveals that just by making eye contact, they can already build deep emotions.

"That's why earlier Mbak Key also said, Mbak Key only said a little, I could immediately imagine and I could cry right away, because I don’t know, it seems that when we are with the actors here, just making eye contact can already make us cry," she explained.

So deep was the feeling that was built, Citra even admitted to feeling jealous during the poster photoshoot. She noticed how Baskara looked more comfortable and smiled widely when interacting with Titi Kamal, who plays his biological mother, Aqilla.

"Yes. So, the eye contact with Kak Titi and Baskara, I really felt that love for Bas, wow. Even when we were taking the poster photo together, I was jealous because, 'Why is Baskara hugging Aqila? Why am I not being hugged? Why does Baskara's smile towards you seem so wide? Why doesn’t he look at me like that?" said Citra while laughing.

Citra hopes this film will be well received and become a source of inspiration, especially for those in the two-line struggle and for single mothers. The film Tears at the End of the Prayer Mat 2 will soon greet audiences in cinemas across Indonesia starting October 23, 2025.
