COCOTE TONGGO, which means 'the neighbors' gossip' in Javanese, tells the story of a married couple, Murni (Ayushita) and Luki (Dennis Adhiswara), who run a fertility herbal business called Jamu Djojo, a legacy from Murni's mother, Bu Tin (Sundari Soekotjo). Unfortunately, despite selling fertility herbs, they have not been blessed with a child after five years of marriage.
This situation becomes a topic of gossip among the residents, especially from the nosy neighbor Bu Pur (Asri Welas). The social pressure escalates when customers begin to doubt the credibility of their herbs. Until one day, Murni and Luki find an abandoned baby and decide to pretend to be pregnant to cover their shame and protect the family name.
However, this lie leads them into a whirlpool of more complicated conflicts. Tensions rise, confusion increases, and guilt slowly haunts them. All wrapped in a comedic situation and sharp social criticism, making this film a meaningful comedy.
