Kapanlagi.com - The animated film from the 'kitchen' of Visinema Studios has finally been completed and is ready to air in theaters across Indonesia after taking five years for the production process. The release date for the film JUMBO has been confirmed for Eid 2025, a perfect moment to watch together with family.

So far, it has been confirmed that there will be 17 countries participating in screening the film JUMBO later. These countries include 12 countries in Europe, Russia, and others.

In its production process, the film JUMBO required many contributions from people. In fact, Visinema Studios is reported to have 'engaged' up to 400 local creators to work on its animation. The names behind the voices of the characters in the film include several well-known figures in Indonesia, such as Angga Yunanda and Bunga Citra Lestari (BCL).

1. Like an Oasis in the Middle of a Pandemic

Started five years ago, the production team behind the film JUMBO had to remain enthusiastic in facing various obstacles during the COVID-19 pandemic that hit the world. The writer, Widya Arifianti (Bida), revealed that the screenplay's creation was enveloped in the challenge of exploring animation media to produce a story that is universal amidst the ongoing pandemic.

"This story (JUMBO) was initially developed during the pandemic. Developing this story was like becoming a playground for us (Visinema Studios), like an oasis when the world was 'dark'. We also really dug into all our personal experiences from when we were kids." Bida stated during a press conference on Thursday (13/03).

"So if asked about the challenges of making an animated film, it is certainly about balancing technical and creative aspects. Because we also want to creatively maintain the vision of the story and its quality, but also technically find ways to make the work efficient and on timeline. In terms of creativity, the challenge is to craft a story for all ages because we want to make an animated film that can be watched by everyone." Added Ryan Adriandhy, the director of the film JUMBO.

2. Leaving a Lasting Impression for the Voice Actors

Although the recording process was conducted long before the animation was completed, the film JUMBO successfully left an impression on the minds of the voice actors for each character. According to BCL, the film not only shows examples of what parents can leave to their descendants but also makes her realize that children have their own personal life journeys.

"Here I am as a mother seeing that children have their own life journeys. But no matter what, what their parents teach them, the love from their parents, will always be within them. Somehow, I hope that those who watch the film JUMBO, including myself who voices here, will appreciate the time we have with our children and that our children will also appreciate the love from their parents." BCL expressed when asked about her opinion.

Not only BCL, Ariel NOAH also took part in the film JUMBO. He was appointed as the voice of Don's father. Ariel revealed that during the pandemic, a lot of energy could not be channeled, which made him agree to join this animated film project initiated by Visinema Studios.

Behind the excitement of the recording process, Ariel revealed that the challenge he faced was conveying the emotions of his character. "The hardest part is when I'm talking (and conveying) expressions. Because I want (to contribute) perfectly and really get the (expressions), it was taught beforehand. The challenge is in every part because I don't want to just talk, but I want to capture the emotions too." He said.

Another big name invited as a voice actor is Cinta Laura Kiehl. Meri, the character of the ghost girl of Indonesian-German descent, becomes the character she portrays. She expresses her happiness when asked to contribute to the film JUMBO.

Having a different perspective from other cast members, Cinta Laura conveys that people often feel inadequate about themselves. "The film JUMBO is incredibly meaningful because through the character Don and his friends, it shows that sometimes, our imagination is enough to make life more colorful. Regardless of what happens, whether we can achieve our dreams or not, at the end of the day, what matters most is our family, our friends, and the people around us who truly know who we really are."

3. Favorite Aspects and Similarities with Characters in JUMBO

Prince Poetiray, the voice actor for the main character, revealed that Don has many similarities with himself. Besides physically, he also feels that the character traits of Don are similar to his own.

"Don is confident, never gives up, loves singing, and is surrounded by people he loves. I am also confident and never give up, (and) I have people I love and who love me too," said Prince Poetiray.

In addition, the voice actors of the children’s characters in the film JUMBO also shared what they each like. Quinn Salman revealed that he admires Mei's flying ability and hopes to have it too so he won't be late for school. Then, Yusuf Ozkan likes Nurman's side, which is full of curiosity, optimistic, relaxed, and always prioritizes his friends.

Graciella Abigail also expressed a similar sentiment. She likes the caring nature and willingness to help her friends, like the "Mother of the Group". Finally, M. Adhiyat said that his favorite aspect of the character Atta is his relationship with his older brother (played by Angga Yunanda) and the change from bullying Don to becoming good friends.

4. Supported by Paddle Pop, JUMBO Releases Special Edition Ice Cream

In addition to support in its production process, the film JUMBO is also supported by various parties in other aspects. One of the supporters in the marketing sector is Paddle Pop, a famous ice cream brand in Indonesia.

Together with JUMBO, Paddle Pop has released a special variant ice cream called "Jiggly Jelly". This ice cream contains a strawberry flavor wrapped in chewy jelly, providing a unique sensation that makes you want to 'dance' when eaten.

5. Synopsis of the Film JUMBO

Don, a boy who now lives only with his grandmother, is often belittled by his peers in the village where he lives. However, he still has two friends who understand him, namely Nurman and Mae.

One day, Don loses his favorite storybook made by his parents because it was stolen by Atta. The boy, often teased with the nickname 'Jumbo', is very angry at him and is determined to get the book back with his two friends. Besides being the last memento from his mom and dad, Don needs his book to participate in the festival in Kampung Seruni.

Suddenly, a girl ghost appears in front of the three of them. The ghost's name is Mei. Her appearance is based on her desire to seek help to save her beloved parents.

Feeling pity for what happened to Mei, both Don and his two friends agree to help the Indonesian-German ghost. However, Mei must help the 'Jumbo ' group perform at the village festival so they can win. An exciting adventure full of lessons about togetherness begins.
