The Famous Invisible City of Saranjana in Kalimantan Will Be Portrayed in a Film

Kapanlagi.com - The Invisible City of Saranjana, which is a folk tale in West Kalimantan, is being adapted into a film. Director Johansyah Jumberan explains the reason for choosing this story, as it is different from the usual horror films that depict cultural stories from Java or Sunda.

"Saranjana, in my opinion, is a very different horror genre because most horror films are from Java or Sunda. This time, there is something new and original from Kalimantan, and everything is related," he said during a press conference at Senayan City, Central Jakarta, on Monday (11/9/2023).

In addition, Johansyah through a film that is planned to be screened in theaters on October 26, 2023, also wants to introduce the culture and customs of Kalimantan, which are rarely highlighted. Of course, with messages that he wants to convey to the public through this film.

"Because if it's a drama genre or something, there are already ones that have been made, but if it's about mysticism or customs, it's rarely brought to the big screen," said Johansyah.

"If Saranjana is a well-known figure from Kalimantan. Now, through this opportunity, I want to show what Kalimantan is really like," added Johansyah.

The film tells the story of a band named Signifikan from Jakarta who is holding a concert tour in Kotabaru, South Kalimantan. The vocalist, Shita (Adinda Azani), mysteriously disappears in the middle of the tour.

After gathering information, the band members believe that Sitha is in Saranjana, a city believed by the locals to be a modern and advanced mystical city. Within a span of 7 days, they must embark on a horror-filled and mystical adventure to enter the city of Saranjana and bring back the vocalist.

When the poster and trailer were launched, DHF Entertainment showcased skyscrapers as a depiction of the mystical city of Saranjana. Several young artists will also participate, including Adinda Azani, Lutfi Aulia, Irzan Faiq, Betari Ayu, and many more.
