FINCH will be the second film of the Oscar-winning actor on the streaming platform, following the World War II film in 2020 titled GREYHOUND. FINCH tells the story of a robotics engineer who survives a solar event that has turned Earth into a desert. His only companion is his cute dog named Goodyear. However, as Finch prepares for a dangerous journey, he creates a robot named Jeff, with the purpose of taking care of Goodyear if anything happens to him.
Miguel Sapochnik is the man behind the camera who will direct FINCH. He is the person behind some of the biggest episodes of GAME OF THRONES as well as several other TV series. FINCH is Sapochnik's second feature film, after previously directing the 2010 science fiction film REPO MEN starring Jude Law and Forest Whitaker.
If you have ever watched CAST AWAY, FINCH also has a similar plot. The difference is that while CAST AWAY tells the story of how Hanks is isolated, in survival mode, and has strange conversations with his non-human friend, this time Hanks will be accompanied by a cute dog and a silly robot.
Tom Hanks will be alone in 80% of this film, with the remaining 20% filled by several other actors such as Laura Harrier, Skeet Ulrich, Samira Wiley, and other actors encountered by Hanks on his journey.
This film has a well-structured plot and sufficient character development with an apocalyptic atmosphere created through the cinematography by Jo Willems and the guitar score by composer THE LAST OF US Gustavo Santaolalla. This film is worth watching if you like the offered premise.
