FAST 9: Vin Diesel Reveals Unique Process Behind the Selection of Cool Cars in 'FAST & FURIOUS'

Kapanlagi.com - FAST & FURIOUS is always enlivened by cool cars. This franchise has evolved from a racing car film to an action film with spectacular scenes, dangerous missions, and family drama. However, what never fails is the appearance of the characters' cars.

FAST 9 still maintains this tradition. From the poster, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) remains loyal to his American muscle car, the Dodge Charger 500. This car reminds us of its appearance in the first film in 2001. Meanwhile, from the trailer, we can see Dom racing his Dodge Charger SRT against Jakob (John Cena) who is driving a Ford Mustang.

In an interview with KapanLagi, Vin Diesel revealed the unique process behind the selection of these cars. Every car that appears as the characters' vehicles must go through a long selection process and must have a connection to the story.

1. Car Audition Process

"OH MY GOD... This question will take hours to answer. I don't think people know what we do in every FAST AND FURIOUS movie. It might sound crazy, but we audition cars just like auditioning actors," Vin revealed.

Furthermore, he explained that each type of car chosen is closely related to the characteristics of the character. The choice of the sturdy and powerful Dodge Charger may symbolize Vin's character as the alpha male of his big family.

"Because each car represents something from the film's characters. The cars also represent the minds of the characters. You can see what the characters' minds are like through their cars. One interesting story in the making of the FAST SAGA is when you audition the cars," he added.

2. Nostalgia with Han and his Mazda RX

Han (Sung Kang) will bring fans nostalgia with his black and orange Mazda RX. The last time we saw Han driving that car was in TOKYO DRIFT. In FURIOUS 7, we are given a glimpse of Han driving his car. 

3. Pontiac Fiero and its Rocket

What makes us even more curious is the red Pontiac Fiero car that is seen already modified in the trailer. Not holding back, the car is modified with a rocket on top of it. Since the beginning of the trailer's appearance, the comment section has been flooded with predictions that there will be a scene in outer space. 

These predictions are reinforced after in the end of the second trailer, Roman and Tej are seen driving the Pontiac and being transported on a flying plane.

FAST 9 will be released in theaters on June 16. This film promises spectacular action, especially the battle between two muscular men, Dom (Vin Diesel) and Jakob (Dom Toretto). Jakob is Dom's long-lost brother who has now joined forces with Cipher (Charlize Theron)
