Knuckles in 'SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2' Called Sexy, Here's the Director's Comment

Kapanlagi.com - In the first trailer of SONIC 2 released for the first time at The Game Awards, fans can see Sonic stepping into the world of heroes along with Tails as Sonic's close friend, and Knuckles who first appeared in SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 3 in 1994, will appear as the newest villain.

If previously the internet was buzzing with the wrong design of Sonic's character, this time the internet is buzzing after witnessing Sonic and Knuckles face each other for the first time in a feature film. While viewers are already familiar with Ben Schwartz as the blue hedgehog, this is the first time they hear Idris Elba as Knuckles.

Considering Hollywood's status of Elba being declared the sexiest man in the world, many fans cannot stay silent without responding enthusiastically to his voice. Responding to this, the director of SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 reveals his feelings about the charm of Elba radiating from the character Knuckles.

Displaying sexiness may not be Idris Elba's intention, but as a former Sexiest Man, it will definitely come out even in animated characters. Knuckles is indeed a cool-looking figure. However, moviegoers can accept Knuckles' appearance without any protest.

According to Polygon, Director SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 Jeff Fowler said Elba's appearance "really works." And despite the actor's efforts to eliminate the character's sexiness, Knuckles is still slightly sexy, and that's very natural.

"Let me say that the fact that the sexy voice debate has resurfaced in the past 24 hours. Everyone saying he's lying makes me very happy. A big smile on my face. I didn't think anyone saw that conversation or dialogue happen, but here it is, and I'm glad it's here. He's a great guy. He really wants to get the character right."

When Idris Elba signed on to play the super-powered red echidna in SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2, the actor sought to delve into the background and identity, and discovered "everything an actor needs to create a character and deliver the best performance," said director Jeff Fowler.

"He was very eager to absorb everything, and train himself to become the best version of the character. Which is amazing. It's really enjoyable to see how much he cares to do it right.”

Unlike the friendships formed in the game and animated film franchise in recent years, it appears that the story of SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 will be adapted from SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 3 from 1994. So moviegoers will see Sonic and Knuckles battling it out as Dr. Robotnik pursues the Master Emerald.

If you want to see Idris Elba in action as Knuckles, you'll have to be patient and wait for the film's release in theaters on April 8, 2022.
