The storyline is taken from Richard's memoir, 'A BOY, A BURRITO, AND A COOKIES: FROM JANITOR TO EXECUTIVE'. In his life story, Richard admitted to coming up with the idea for the Cheetos product, but there is more to the story than that.

Richard Montañez was born to Mexican immigrant family in California and lived facing discrimination and limited opportunities. He dropped out of school and started working as a janitor at Frito Lay, a subsidiary of PepsiCo.

One day, Richard realized that his company's new product, Cheetos, lacked flavor. Utilizing his Mexican-American heritage, Richard decided to experiment with flavor by adding chili powder. Richard presented his creation to the company executives who were then impressed by its taste.
