Salt's peaceful life does not last long after a man named Orlov (Daniel Olbrychski) suddenly accuses her of being a Russian spy. Orlov is a senior Soviet official who reveals that Salt is actually a secret agent.
Orlov claims that Salt has been trained since childhood in Russia to carry out terrorist attacks in America. This accusation leads to Salt being interrogated by her fellow agents, including her close friend, Ted Winter (Liev Schreiber).
