Talented actor Paul Mescal has been preparing diligently to portray the character Lucius in the newly released film GLADIATOR II. According to a report from Variety on Wednesday (13/11), Mescal revealed that he aimed to gain 22 pounds or nearly 10 kilograms.

In fact, Mescal already had a muscular physique after playing the role of Stanley Kowalski in his previous film. However, to meet the physical demands of the character Lucius, he still underwent an intensive training program for six months before filming began.

Mescal also diligently trained at the gym six days a week and managed his diet, consuming four meals a day dominated by meat, especially chicken.

However, after filming GLADIATOR II wrapped up, Mescal had to undergo another transformation, this time to lose 26 pounds in two months for the needs of the film project THE HISTORY OF SOUND.

"This isn't about getting skinny, but just about reducing muscle. It's really torturous," he complained.

2. A More Magnificent and Challenging Scale

Legendary director Ridley Scott returns to direct the sequel to GLADIATOR titled GLADIATOR II. Unlike the first film in 2000, GLADIATOR II is said to involve stunts and visual effects on a larger and more challenging scale.
