Vic Chou Comeback After 10 Years, Revives the Role of a Psychiatrist in Emotional Taiwanese Drama

Kapanlagi.com - After more than a decade away from Taiwanese television dramas, Vic Chou finally returns through the series The World Between Us: After the Flames. He plays a psychiatrist who suffers trauma from a major fire.

"I think it’s because there is such a great team looking for me. As an actor, I certainly hope there are ways to surpass myself again," Vic revealed about his reasons for joining.

"I also hope there is a backing team that can support me and provide a lot of input on my performance. So I naturally just joined this series," he added.

1. Shooting at the Parliament Building

The most memorable scene for Vic was during the shooting at the parliament building. For him, the location and the emotions involved made it hard to forget. "There is one scene where the parliament building is in ruins, there is a huge shift in emotions. It's not easy to have the opportunity to borrow a shooting location like this. So I think this is a very special experience," he said.

This drama also marks Vic Chou's first collaboration with actor and rapper Hsueh Shih Ling. Although it was their first time working together, both admitted that the chemistry formed immediately thanks to the reading process and intense discussions.

"Yes, this is indeed our first collaboration, but I think building the chemistry was quite easy," said Shih Ling.

"Vic Chou is also a very professional actor. It was a very enjoyable collaboration," he added.

2. Walking for Quite a While

Vic agreed with the statement and added that another supporting factor is the direction from director Lin Chun-Yang.

"The director will ask us to feel the location first. I think this is very important to help us actors. As for chemistry, I believe that as professional actors, we should be able to provide that," he said.

Behind the scenes, the creative process of this series took quite a long time. Its first season aired six years ago and received a lot of praise. According to Vic, this is what triggered the producer's desire to present its continuation.

"I never expected that after 6 years, we would finally finish this story. But precisely because of the long process, this story has become much firmer and more exciting," he explained.

3. Emotional Depth

This drama introduces new stories and characters with a major theme of wounds, healing, and human connections. Vic's character as a psychiatrist is said to have emotional depth that demands maximum performance.

"Every scene is very important, every scene, the emotions present seem to have no particular one that stands out the most," said Vic.

The World Between Us: After the Flames will premiere globally on June 7, 2025, and can be watched in Indonesia via CATCHPLAY+, with two new episodes airing every Saturday at 9 PM.
