Kapanlagi.com - Music shows are often utilized by K-Pop idols to promote their new songs. In fact, appearing on music shows in Korea has become a mandatory agenda for every K-Pop idol's comeback.
Interestingly, there are numerous music shows in Korea, including KBS Music Bank, SBS Inkigayo, MBC M Show Champion, MBC Show! Music Core, SBS MTV The Show, and Mnet M Countdown. This is what makes comebacks exhausting for most K-Pop idols.
Not only serving as a promotional platform, music shows also award weekly trophies to the best new songs that are most loved by the public. Each show has its own criteria, making it very difficult to achieve first place.
However, there are K-Pop songs that have successfully won the most music show trophies in history. Some of them can be seen below.
In first place, the K-Pop song with the most number of wins from music shows in Korea is "Dynamite" by BTS. The song, released on August 20, 2020, became BTS's first English-language song to dominate the Billboard Hot 100.
Surprisingly, this luck also happened in Korea, where English songs are usually not popular among the Korean people. Instead, "Dynamite" went viral and was played everywhere.
As a result, "Dynamite" surpassed the records of old songs and claimed a new throne with 32 wins from music shows in Korea, making history in K-Pop.
Next, there is the old song "Invisible Love" by Shin Seunghun, released on November 30, 1991. In that era, TV was still the main entertainment media, so a new song that could win a music show trophy meant it was able to fully capture the hearts of fans in Korea. "Invisible Love" successfully garnered 31 wins from music shows in Korea.
At the third position is a song by Seo Taiji and Boys titled I Know. This song, released on March 23, 1992, was a hit at the time. Especially since TV was still the main entertainment in Korea, and Seo Taiji successfully won the hearts of many fans. I Know also successfully won 26 trophies from music shows in Korea.
Speaking of K-Pop, it would be incomplete not to mention Gangnam Style by PSY. This song, released on July 15, 2012, slowly went viral not only in Korea but also worldwide. It's no wonder that Gangnam Style was able to win a total of 25 music show trophies. PSY himself has received 42 music show trophies with his songs.
In fifth place is BTS with the song "Boy With Love." The song, released on April 12, 2019, not only became popular in Korea but also internationally, especially in America. It not only reached number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100, but also won 21 trophies on music shows in Korea.
There is also EXO with the song "Call Me Baby." The song, released on March 27, 2015, garnered a lot of attention from netizens, especially as EXO reached the peak of their fame at that time. It's no wonder that "Call Me Baby" won 17 trophies from various music shows.
Last but not least, there is Luv by Apink, which is the only girl group K-Pop in this list. This song was first released on November 24, 2014. Apink's popularity at that time made Luv widely listened by the public.
As a result, the song was able to win a total of 17 music show trophies. Overall, Apink has won 51 music show trophies throughout their career.
Those are some K-Pop songs that have won the most music show trophies in history. Out of these songs, which one was in its prime when it was viral?
