Kawai Ruka is the oldest member of BABYMONSTER, being the last member to be officially introduced on February 6, 2023. Ruka was born on March 20, 2002 and will be one of the first Japanese female idols to debut under YG Entertainment alongside Asa. 

Ruka turns out to be a former member of a Japanese girl group called Shibu3 Project. This girl group has been active since 2016 with 73 members and now has 45 members. Ruka is one of the first members among the 73 members in this group.

Ruka turns out to have a background as a rapper and has also been training in hip-hop dance since the age of 6, even dancing in her dormitory when she was free to develop her talent.

In 2018, Ruka joined YG Entertainment by performing a cover of the song "Top Off" by DJ Khaled, featuring JAY Z, Future, and Beyonce during her first audition.

One of YG Entertainment's dance instructors, Leejung, said that Ruka's strength lies in the length of time she has been dancing and her understanding as a dancer. Even the former CEO of YG Entertainment said that Ruka is so good that he never criticizes her movements.

Between 2017 and 2018, Ruka was also involved in the production and appeared in the music video titled "Happy Halloween!" which became popular thanks to the famous singer Ueda Atsumi. In this music video, Ruka successfully showcased her talent and dedication in the world of music.

Ruka apparently also enjoys participating in regular pilates sessions. Ruka is truly engaged in pilates, which not only helps her improve physically, but also shows a strong desire to live a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
