1. Super Junior KRY

Super Junior KRY is the first official sub-unit of the boyband Super Junior. The group, consisting of Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, and Yesung, was formed in 2006. They often release ballad songs, and all three members of Super Junior KRY are the main vocalists of Super Junior.

2. Super Junior D&E

Still from the same boyband, Super Junior formed a new sub-unit called Super Junior D&E. Unlike KRY, D&E leans more towards energetic and upbeat pop music. Consisting of Donghae and Eunhyuk, this sub-unit debuted in 2011.

3. Girl's Generation Oh!GG

After some members did not renew their contracts with SM, Girl's Generation or SNSD formed a new sub-unit called Girl's Generation Oh!GG. The group appeared in 2018 and consists of 5 members: Yuri, Yoona, Hyoyeon, Sunny, and Taeyeon. They officially debuted in September 2018 with the single Lil' Touch.

4. EXO CBX

EXO CBX consists of 3 main vocalists of the boyband EXO, namely Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin. This first sub unit of EXO debuted in 2016 with a mini album titled HEY MAMA!. It was so successful that the group even held a concert in Japan titled EXO-CBX MAGICAL CIRCUS 2019.

5. EXO-SC

After CBX, EXO launched another sub unit called EXO-SC. This group consists of two rappers from EXO, namely Sehun and Chanyeol. Just recently made a comeback, EXO-SC is even more loved by their fans because of their funky songs and mesmerizing visuals.

6. NCT U, NCT 127, and NCT Dream

For NCTzens, it's no secret that NCT is a big project by SM Entertainment. Currently, NCT has 3 sub-units, namely NCT U, NCT 127, and NCT Dream. NCT U is the first sub-unit that has a concept where members can interchange depending on the song they will perform. Unlike NCT U, NCT 127 is a sub-unit with permanent members based in Seoul, South Korea.

Lastly, NCT Dream is a NCT sub-unit that initially consisted of members under 20 years old. However, in 2020, SM Entertainment announced that NCT Dream officially has 7 members, namely Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle, and Jisung.

7. SuperM

Surprising the public in 2019, SM launched a new sub-unit consisting of 7 members from its boyband, namely Taemin from SHINee, Baekhyun and Kai EXO, Taeyong and Mark NCT, as well as Ten and Lucas WayV. Venturing into the Western market, the group is more focused on promoting in the United States. Comprised of famous idols, SuperM is dubbed as the Avengers of SM Entertainment.

8. Red Velvet Irene & Seulgi

Recently, SM launched the first sub-unit of Red Velvet, namely Red Velvet Irene & Seulgi. As the name suggests, this sub-unit is a duo group consisting of Irene and Seulgi Red Velvet. They officially debuted in July 2020 with the single titled Monster.
