After Graduating with a Master's Degree, Hong Jin Young Apologizes for Temporary Conclusion of Thesis Plagiarism

Hong Jin Young's agency previously denied the allegations. However, recently Hong Jin Young wrote an apology after Chosun University released a temporary conclusion regarding the plagiarism of her master's thesis.

On December 15, the Research Integrity Committee under the Ethics Committee of Chosun University made a preliminary assessment of Hong Jin Young's thesis plagiarism. They sent the thesis to the Graduate School Committee, which gave Hong Jin Young until 5 PM KST on December 18 to provide an explanation.

The Graduate School Committee will make the final decision on whether plagiarism has occurred through a meeting on December 23. If it is officially determined that she plagiarized, her master's and doctoral degrees will be automatically revoked. Hong Jin Young has now stated that she has decided to relinquish her master's and doctoral degrees.

2. Write a Letter to Fans

Furthermore, Hong Jin Young shared an apology letter on Instagram on December 18. She revealed that she was scared when she heard about the plagiarism news. At that time, she was making a comeback with a new song and felt afraid to perform again.

"I will accept the preliminary conclusion on plagiarism from Chosun University and I will deeply regret it. I have also acted very disrespectfully towards those who are still working day and night for their master's and doctoral theses. Please forgive me. I will admit everything and reflect on it," she wrote.

Previously, Hong Jin Young held the titles of Bachelor of Commerce, Master of Trade, and Ph.D in Business Administration from Chosun University.
